The final blueprint of the multi-crore global tie-up between Volkswagen and Suzuki Motor Corporation has started to unfold, with Maruti Suzuki looking at becoming an original equipment maker in cars for the German automaker for markets outside India.

Global energy giant Shell has acquired Mumbai-based Raj Petro Specialities to deepen its foothold in the world's third biggest lubricants market in the world, a top company official said. Shell, which has already invested over $5 billion in India across the energy value chain -- from LNG import terminals and fuel stations to renewable energy and technology centres -- has acquired 100 per cent equity interest in Raj Petro Specialities Pvt Ltd from Germany's Brenntag Group.

Indian car major Maruti's Japanese parent Suzuki on Wednesday said it will sell 19.9 per cent stake to Germany's Volkswagen for about $2.5 billion (about Rs 11,500 crore).

Country's largest car maker draws nearly half of its sales from exchange programmes, rural focus.

The country's largest car maker Maruti Suzuki India (MSI) on Friday said it is recalling 1,81,754 units of petrol trims of various models, including Ciaz, Vitara Brezza and XL6, to replace faulty motor generator unit. This is the company's largest vehicle recall till date. As a responsible corporate, keeping in mind customer safety, the company has announced to proactively undertake a recall of some petrol variants of Ciaz, Ertiga, Vitara Brezza, S-Cross and XL6, MSI said in a regulatory filing.
The new model, which is based on the company's fifth generation HEARTECT platform, comes with a BS-VI compliant one-litre petrol engine with a claimed fuel efficiency of 21.7 km per litre.
